About iStudyMate

What is iStudyMate?

iStudyMate is a one-stop platform that helps international students discover top Chinese universities, compare programs, and submit their applications with guided support — all in one place.

Who is iStudyMate for?

International students planning to study in China at the Bachelor, Master, PhD, Chinese Language, or short-term program levels, as well as their parents, counselors, and partner institutions.

Application

How do I apply for a program?

Create a free account, search for your target program, click "Apply Now", complete the application form and upload the required documents, then submit and pay the application fee. Our team reviews your submission and guides you through the next steps.

What documents are required?

Typically: passport copy, academic transcripts, degree certificates, language proficiency proof (English or Chinese), personal statement / study plan, recommendation letters, CV, and a physical examination form for certain programs. Exact requirements vary by university and program level.

How long does the review take?

Most universities review applications within a few weeks. Keep your profile complete and respond promptly to information requests to speed up processing. You can always track status in your dashboard.

Programs & Universities

How do I choose a program?

Use filters for level (Bachelor, Master, PhD), major, language of instruction, and city. Each program page shows curriculum highlights, tuition, and admission notes to help you decide.

Bachelor vs Master vs PhD — what is the difference?

The three levels differ in duration, research depth, and admission criteria. Bachelor programs typically run 4 years, Master 2–3 years, and PhD 3–5 years with a strong research component.

Pricing, Fees & Refunds

How much does iStudyMate cost?

Browsing universities and programs is free. Service packages (Essential, Comprehensive, Premium) and the application processing fee are priced on the Services page. All prices are in USD.

Which payment methods are accepted?

We accept major international cards via Airwallex, our primary payment partner. Additional payment options may be offered for specific markets — see checkout for details.

What is your refund policy?

Service and application fees are generally non-refundable once processing has begun. Refund eligibility, when applicable, is disclosed on the relevant product page and in your order summary at the time of purchase.

Are scholarships available?

Many Chinese universities and government programs offer scholarships for international students. Review each program’s admission notes and our blog for current scholarship guides and deadlines.

Visa & Travel

Which visa should I apply for?

The visa type depends on your program level and duration. Once your admission is confirmed, the university will issue a JW202 form and admission letter — the documents needed for a student (X1 or X2) visa.

Do I need health insurance and a medical check?

Yes. Most programs require a comprehensive medical examination and valid health insurance covering the duration of your studies in China.
